How it's calculated

Plate = Logo + 2 × Handling margin + 2 × Bevel

Each side of the logo gets a handling margin so the impression sits clear of the plate edge and the die lies flat. Metal dies also get a bevel around the edge to lock them onto the heating chase. Embossing and sculpted work need a matching counter-die, so each set is two plates. The counter-die's channel is cut 0.1–0.2 mm wider than the die so the material doesn't tear.

Area = plate width × plate height. Weight = area × thickness × material density. Price = the larger of (area × price per sq in) and the per-plate minimum, times the number of plates.
